Hi there and welcome to this very short yet concise site on exactly “what panic attacks are” and how hopefully by reading this blog, it will get you a little bit closer to solving your panic attacks.

I will be covering the symptoms of panic attacks in men, and this is based on my true and actual experiences.

Before I start, I would like to say that I have been a sufferer myself and spent many a day on the internet, browsing various articles and trying to understand exactly what panic or anxiety attacks are, and how I could rid myself of panic attacks for good!

Coping with anxiety is not the easiest of things and hopefully by reading what I have to say, you will come a little bit closer to understanding more about what panic attack symptoms are all about.

Over the last two years I have been in an unfortunate situation and have had various issues or problems but like anything in life, you have your ups and your downs.

For me it was more downs than ups and that is where the panic attack factor kicked in.

I would like to think that after reading my blog, you will realize that this is not just “hype” and that I am a genuine person.

So what exactly are the symptoms of panic attacks in men, and how can you sort your mind and body out, to ensure that you win hands down and defeat something which psychologically, can do you a lot more harm than good.

Now if we go to the dictionary and get an explanation of exactly what panic attacks are – we come up a definition of anxiety which goes something like this –

“A Sudden Feeling Of Acute And Disabling Anxiety”

And in a nutshell that is exactly what a panic attack is.

That feeling of total helplessness and panic – something which unless controlled can destroy your life.

Well even though this sounds severe and probably is – with the correct help and the correct approach you can and will cure panic attacks.

Please continue to read the rest of my posts, as we delve greater into exactly what panic attacks are and how , with the right method, we can stop panic attacks for good.

Panic Attack Symptoms

Anxiety and panic attacks are a common problem for a lot of people.

I guess that from my point of view, I got caught within what seemed a road to no return, and this was caused by the everyday pressures of life and a few other things which I don’t really want to get into right now.

But like I said in my initial post, thankfully, panic attacks can be cured.

It may feel like you are anxious, you may even feel like you are having heart problems or even heart palpitations, feeling like you cannot breath, or even feeling like your chest is about to explode.

I know the exact feeling – I have been there!

Ok – so what are the actual physical signs of a panic attack?

Well first off, we are all different and will experience different types of panic attacks, but in a nutshell, we can break down the symptoms into the following categories:

A feeling of dizziness – this can happen right at the beginning of the attack – you might well feel like you have had a few glasses too many.

Breathing – this was probably for me the worst symptom – my chest constricted and I found it hard to breath.  I felt like I had just run the London Marathon.

Heart pulpitations – a very common sign of panic attacks – basically this happens due to your pulse rate increasing.

The other types of physical symptoms might also be – hot flushes, feeling out of control, or strong waves of anxiety.

A lot of people associate all of this with having a heart attack – but it is not usually the case – even if you feel like you need to rush to the hospital, the chances are that you will be examined and told that you have or are suffering from a panic attack.

Stress Relates Panic Attacks.

We all suffer in some shape or form from stress – be it stress at work or family related matters and this is where panic attacks can really come into force.

Have you ever had one of those kettles that make a sound or whistles just before it is ready to stop or ready to explode?

Sound familiar – well that is what stress can do to your body – that point that you reach when you are about to boil over.

Never forget that out brain is a very powerful tool and just because your brain is telling you that the end is nigh it doesn’t mean it is.

Go back and switch that kettle off before it reaches boiling point.

But you know what they say in life – “talk is cheap”

You need to know how to get to grips with the effects of anxiety and to make sure that your body and mind are not taken over by that fear of utter despair.

My last post hopefully will explain exactly what I did to overcome or cure panic attacks.

Overcoming The Symptoms Of Panic Attacks In Men

Written by admin on July 28, 2011. Posted in Panic Attacks

Panic attacks, or the symptoms of panic attacks in men are not the easiest of things to overcome and many of us feel like we are caught in this prison cell with no escape.

I remember, when I was going through a panic attack, one thing that I will always remember is that fear or feeling total of isolation!

Remember though that you are not alone and that many people suffer from panic attacks, in fact figures out, state that signs of anxiety attacks in women are more common than in men.

I would always believe that when I was going through a panic attack –

That my heart was about to stop

Or that my lungs would stop working

Or that I was going to faint!

Madness, Panic, Embarrassment and a feeling of being out of control would set in.

So what did I do to overcome this feeling of outer despair?

Well firstly I took a look at foods that possibly would increase this feeling of hopelessness, and making sure that I cut down or even stopped such types of food or liquids within my daily diet.

The three main anxiety producing foods, which definitely made things worse for me, were-

Sugar

Alcohol

& Caffeine

They are all just quick “pick me ups” and always in the long run do you more damage than good.

Sugar can and will cause lactic acid to build up in your bloodstream and high levels of this will and can increase panic attacks in men or women.

Drinking alcohol is a real no go area.  Even though it can calm you down, it is only a temporary measure and after the levels of alcohol reduce in your blood, the real panic and anxiety attacks kick in!

And just like sugar and alcohol, caffeine again sends you on a journey which in the short term is a good feeling and gets you going, but again as the caffeine levels reduce , so does your state of mind and things get back to how they were, and hence none of the above are true or actual anxiety remedies.

Now medication for me was always a non-starter – I refused to get involved with antidepressants – I was not going to get hooked to drugs and get onto a road of no return.

The only way forward for me and one that has worked and has made me overcome that fear was through three keys elements.

One way getting involved in exercise and there are so many relaxation techniques for anxiety, with the best one in my opinion, being Yoga.

I also read up and found a few helpful tools and articles on the internet which had to do with exactly how to overcome anxiety.

Anxiety remedies included for example Yoga, which I have already mentioned and of course the big one – being breathing.

I soon realised that this terrible feeling of utter despair was all in the mind and it was a case of mind over matter.

Please put into practise what I have been speaking about and realize that panic disorder symptoms can be cured.

Don’t ever give up and remember you are not alone.
